This was my idea for a bot which uses a ram to smash an opponent. Its very large at the moment but could be easily sized down. Its basic ram function starts by having two drums powered by cims which sit inside the drums (thus adding their weight to the inertia) and rotate until maxed out. Once these reach full speed one can actuate a hydrolic or pnumadic cylender (in blue) thus pulling down bearings which sit against the ram(red) and force it in between the drums. The ram due to force from the tapered drums shoots foward at a high velocity (hopefully into an opponent) and is pulled back with a separate motor or spring (not shown). This design was primarily trying to utilize the advantage a spinner has with inertia for a different kind of device.

Wow, great work!
This actually reminds me of Bear Punch, a robot made by Missouri State University for the 2009 competition. Though, I believe they used a pneumatic system, rather than a motor driven weapon.
Here's a video of Bear Punch in action, kind of: http://s725.photobucket.com/al…..47a31f.pbr
If I could make one suggestion, it's that I think a rapidfire ramming system would be a lot more effective than a single all out hit. Most of our opponents use titanium armor, which is pretty difficult to pierce through. If we use something that had a jackhammer type effect, we could possibly wreck them from the inside out. Their electronics might short circuit, a wire may come loose, bolts unscrew, etc.
