Great meeting today, we stayed in the same location, this time. Hopefully future meetings can be in the same room.
Anyway, this meeting we mainly discussed the basic components required for any robot. These components are batteries, speed controllers, and receiver/transmitter. There are other important components such as motors and linear actuators, though they could be replaced by some other type of device (ie: pneumatic pumps.)
Afterward, we studied a few of Daniel's designs in SolidWorks. Daniel showed us how he designs in CAD and the types of considerations he takes into account.
For members, it's being stressed that you start working with SolidWorks. 3D models are much easier for your peers to review and visualize the idea you are trying to convey. Not only that, but it will help you predict its viability in the real world.
Please take a look at the CAD library Donald has given us. It has pre-made parts, which makes designing a robot much simpler.
Oh, and here's a funny video I found.
