TR 2009-11-04 Brainstorming 3So, this meeting we mainly reviewed the various robot concepts developed last week. As those designs mainly dealt with the offensive end of the robot, this week we also started considering the defensive aspect of things.

The main robot categories are horizontal spinners, vertical spinners, control bots, and lifters. Each type of robot requires a different approach to defense.

Also, the goal for Triton Robotix is to finalize a concept by November 28, 2009. It is in the best interest for the club and its members if cad models were made of various robot prototypes. Not only will members get practice with SolidWorks, but designs can then be better thought out and visualized (compared to board sketches).

Donald has graciously given us a list of available parts that we can have access to. Below is a link to downloading the CAD files of those parts, which is useful (and recommended) for the modeled prototypes.

To reiterate, members should CAD their designs within the next two weeks, making use of the real-world parts available to us.

Here's an example done by Daniel Yang:

For those that need SolidWorks 2009, there definitely will not be a portable hard drive at the next meeting. Do not bring your Windows running laptops with at least 5 gigs of free space to download nothing via usb. Mac users may have to find another way of not participating in the transfer party, though.

For those who could not make it to today's meeting, please email Allen (allen@tritonrobotix.com) with your name and email address. We're making a list of our members (finally) so that we may send out directed messages and create secret societies. We probably won't tell you where the next meeting is going to be in advanced, though. That'd be the reverse of secret.
