    Hey guys,

This is Daniel. So in order to push this process along, I believe we should settle on a design. Using the powers vested in me, I declare we are building another modular robot! Here the basic concept.

If people disagree with this design choice, feel free to post up ideas for your design. However, I think a modular robot can encompass many different designs so I dont think it will offend anyone. For the sake of finishing a robot in time for Battlebots, we should just pursue this design.

Also, for those of you confused/misinformend/other, there is not going to be a meeting this Friday (the 27th). We will try to throw in a meeting before finals week to discuss our plans for the winter break and such. Happy Turkeys!

I like the mod bot. Do you have a rough estimate of dimensions so we can get started on weapon designs?

also i wanted to know about extra space, batteries and speed controllers that can fit in the rest of the bot.

ANother thing i would possibly want is the ability to have 180degree vertical rotation.

Right now, there is no way to determine the size. It will depend entirely on what drive motors we will be using, which still have yet to be determined.

I am leaning towards a scooter-chain drive motor system becuase i am not too sure about the reliability of CIM motors and gearboxes. Ideally tho, we would use MAG motors with team whyachi gearboxes, chaindriving 4 wheels. The Mag system will be the lightest, smallest, most powerful, most durable, and easiest to implement drive solution. Unfortunately, it is also the most expensive.

Hopefully by winter break, we can decide on a drive train, and then we would know the dimentions of the bot.

OK, i feel like if we use the mags + Whyachi gearbox that were gonna be sell outs…. cuz everyone uses those…

but, w/e gets the job done

Right now, the most important decision to make is what drivetrain to use.

    Options:

CIM motors + Banebot Gearbox http://banebots.com/pc/P80K-nn…..0K-43-0005

    Chain Driven MAG motor http://www.robotmarketplace.co…..8-150.html

MAG motor + Team Whyachi Gearbox http://www.robotmarketplace.co…..TWM3M.html

ghetto scooter motor + chain drive  http://www.allelectronics.com/…..IRE/1.html

    Last years NPC drive motors

    Dewalt Drill Motors http://www.robotmarketplace.co…..CM515.html

    OTHER????

The drive train will definately dictate our size, space, how much leftover weight we have, etc
