I would just like to update everyone on our progress before this Wednesday meeting.

SWE:

First of all, I have challenged SWE (Society of Women Engineers http://swe.ucsd.edu/) and they have accepted.

They have already formed a team of SWE peoples and have a budget to build an Antweight to compete at our competition.

So, they will be joining us for meetings and such. Hopefully they get these Robotix emails.

I will also try to invite IEEE and AIAA. If you guys have any requests or contacts, let me know.

Jo’s Bot – QQ Bot:


Summary of Design: Drum bot with a brick on the back (steel) to potentially slow down vertical spinners so there’s time to disable their weapon.

Victor’s Bot – The Eater:


Summary of Design: based off of a tree shredder. The two circular disks of death will rotate inward (towards the center of the robot), and will “eat” up anything put in its path.

The results are in!

In our first annual UCSD Triton Robotix competition, the 3-lb Robotix Rumble, there were a total of 7 entries involving 12 engineers.

Out of the double-elimination fights, three robots rose to the top, winning some cool looking trophies.

First Place: Pandamic by Daniel Yang

Second Place: Bloodseeker by Phillip Nguyen, Mike Berry, and Johnny Tan

Third Place: Downstream by Allen Jiang

Congratulations to all the other teams that completed a robot!

UCSD Triton Robotix managed to pull through and do well in the competition. With 21 entries from colleges and professionals from around the world, our robot Kraken fought its way to 5th place.
